What is Team Bikin'?
Team Bikin' is a community service organization that has been developed by local cycling promoter/coach Bikin' Mike Keel. For 20 years Bikin' Mike has been supporting the local cycling community through his dedication to the sport. Now you can join him and others as they work to build a more active and inclusive cycling community in North Texas.
Cycling
It all starts with cycling. Join the team and we'll have Pace Packs, groups that are based upon average cycling pace - so you get to ride with people instead of struggling to keep up. You'll never have to run a stop sign or red light to keep up on our group rides. All Team Bikin' members are required to abide by a "Legal Cycling Only" pledge - and our Team Rides are managed so that participants can obey the laws and still have a good time.
Coaching
Team Bikin' is led by Bikin' Mike, providing access to coaching in individual and group programs. We have meetings that feature cycling tips and Team Rides that will give you a chance to improve your fitness and cycling skills.
Education
When we are out on the road on Team Rides and at area rallies, we will teach other riders how to ride safely and legally by example. When our activities and events are combined with invitations to join our efforts, we will build a healthier cycling community.
Advocacy
As a group, we will work on projects that insure our access to roadways and educate all road users to the rights and needs of cyclists.
Volunteering
Team Bikin' members will participate in selected area rallies as a group - and will be encouraged to participate in other events. We will strive to contribute something to these events that makes them more accessible and enjoyable for the entire cycling community.
Discounts
Team Members will automatically earn discounts on specific Bikin' Mike programs and activities and are provided a 10% discount at Plano Cycling & Fitness.
Special Events
Team Bikin' members will have an integral part in the planning and execution of Tour Dallas, The Collin Classic, Wish 100, Pedal 2 Paris and the Happy New Rear Ride. They will also be involved in other events, like the MS150 and the Hotter N' Hell Hundred.
You join Team Bikin' with a personal commitment to support the cycling community (a registration form/link is provided below). This entitles you to participate in all Team Bikin' Activities. As a member, you are also entitled to the Team Discounts. There will be an ever-changing calendar of activities that you can participate in.
We will ride together at area rallies as well as our own team rides. Some team rides will be in town and focused on developing cycling skills, while others will be simple rides to enjoy the day and the fellowship of the wheel.
As a Team Bikin' Member, you will be expected to work as a volunteer at an area rally and to devote some time to an advocacy project. Finally, when riding, you will be expected to ride your bicycle in a safe and legal manner. As ambassadors of our sport, we will strive to ride in a way that builds respect for all cyclists and other vehicle operators.
